Ideas For Writing Nonfiction

Maybe you’re one of those lucky writers whose head is bursting with ideas. Or perhaps you have one idea that’s been nagging you for weeks, always at the edge of your thoughts. Either way, you’re itching to begin writing. Congratulations. Ask yourself this question first before rushing into your story: is it a book or just an idea?

The seeds of any work of fiction or nonfiction are ideas. However, you need to be able to envision this idea’s beginning, middle, and end and have it fully developed otherwise it might not be enough. Many writers outline their books before they begin because of the experience of writing for pages about an idea and getting nowhere or having a pile of rejections. But if outlining isn’t your cup of tea, then at least think your idea through and make sure it can merit months of writing so you wouldn’t be frustrated in the end.

Example of Ideas for Nonfiction

When it comes to your nonfiction book, it should be based on what you’re passionate about and truly interested in. For many months you’ll be living with this idea. The key to successful nonfiction is to take your idea and approach it in a way that no one else has ever done before. This means doing most of your research before you begin to write. Don’t settle for the most easily-found information on your topic–your readers have probably read the same information. Your subject should be unique so keep digging until you find an aspect. To make sure no one else beat you to it, search through the library and bookstores.

For a nonfiction idea to become a book, you need enough information to fill the number of pages necessary, depending on the age group for which you plan to write. You need a foundation of basic facts with younger children and be detailed in your approach but make sure the concepts are explained in a straightforward manner such as how animals hibernate. Drawing on a broader foundation of knowledge are older readers and they infer connections between related subjects and your topic. To determine if you need more research before beginning to write or if your idea is original enough, a detailed outline of any nonfiction book would be essential.

Whether it’s fiction or nonfiction, your idea should mean something to you, but also have the potential to mean a lot to your readers. The nonessential elements should be taken away and you need to add to it and think through it as well as make sure it has an end, middle, and beginning. That way, your idea will be turned into an idea for a book.

Writing for Social Scientists: How to Start and Finish Your Thesis, Book, or Article: Second Edition (Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing)Writing for Social Scientists: How to Start and Finish Your Thesis, Book, or Article: Second Edition (Chicago Guides to Writing, Editing, and Publishing)Students and researchers all write under pressure, and those pressures—most lamentably, the desire to impress your audience rather than to communicate with them—often lead to pretentious prose, academic posturing, and, not infrequently, writer’s block.

Sociologist Howard S. Becker has written the classic book on how to conquer these pressures and simply write. First published nearly twenty years ago, Writing for Social Scientists has become a lifesaver for writers in all fields, from beginning students to published authors. Becker’s message is clear: in order to learn how to write, take a deep breath and then begin writing. Revise. Repeat.

It is not always an easy process, as Becker wryly relates. Decades of teaching, researching, and writing have given him plenty of material, and Becker neatly exposes the foibles of academia and its “publish or perish” atmosphere. Wordiness, the passive voice, inserting a “the way in which” when a simple “how” will do—all these mechanisms are a part of the social structure of academic writing. By shrugging off such impediments—or at the very least, putting them aside for a few hours—we can reform our work habits and start writing lucidly without worrying about grades, peer approval, or the “literature.”

In this new edition, Becker takes account of major changes in the computer tools available to writers today, and also substantially expands his analysis of how academic institutions create problems for them. As competition in academia grows increasingly heated, Writing for Social Scientists will provide solace to a new generation of frazzled, would-be writers.

Optimize Your Website With Latent Semantic Indexing

Having trouble pronouncing latent semantic indexing? Much less understanding what latent semantic indexing is? Well, I can explain latent semantic indexing to you in 500 words or less, but I can’t attach an audio file to this article, so you can call it LSI for short. We’ll know you mean latent semantic indexing, and in a few minutes, you’ll be able to explain just what latent semantic indexing is.

LSI is a part of SEO. Simple, eh? Oh, sorry. Search engine optimization, or SEO, is an important part of internet marketing. Latent semantic indexing is a big part of optimizing your website for a search engine. When customers go looking for your website, they do a search on Google and of course you hope that your website is one of the first ones that is returned in the list of documents that the search engine provides. If you want to ensure that your website is near the top of the list, you’ll need to understand latent semantic indexing. That’s because it is one of the algorithms that are used by every search engine when it is browsing the internet.

To rank every document and website for a query, a search engine needs to assign a singular value to each document. This value is based on a semantic analysis of how well all the terms in the document relate to the term that the user has entered as his query. That’s because “semantic” refers to the meaning of words, and a user is looking for documents according to the meaning of the term he has entered.

But words can mean many different things, particularly as the context around them varies. Thus, the “latent” in latent semantic indexing is used to refer to the meaning of words that are brought out by their context. The word “top” may refer to a child’s toy, or it may refer to a circus tent if it is paired with the word “big”. But if “top” is followed by “ranked”, it is simply referring to a location on a list of items.

So, latent semantic indexing does a semantic analysis of all the terms in a document in order to create a singular value for how well the document relates to a given search term. If the document has lots of circus terms, then it will be get a high score for “big top”. If there are many words in it about children’s toys, then the document will be ranked low for “big top”. Where it ranks is considered to be its index of association with the search term, hence “semantic indexing”. “Latent semantic indexing” is used because of the subtlety of the meanings involved. The true meaning of the word “top” in the document can only be determined by how it relates to the other words, not by a simple look-up in a dictionary.Better Seo With Lsi

Professional Writing Services – Quick Tips For You

Articles are crucial in keeping business sites up and going. Actually they are the lifelines of all web businesses. As an internet entrepreneur, you can opt to write all of your web content. But if you are time poor or talents poor, doing such would not be a great idea. This is where professional writing services could turn out to be useful for you. Following are a couple of tips that can help you get to work with the right folk for this task.

Set Your Necessities

As the business and website owner, you have the say on type of content that will be given to you. Having clear requirements like quantity of articles you need, the length of each article and keyword type and density can help your expectations come into reality. You can also give instructions on the exact style you want your content to be written. This is because it can come in different formats like articles, blogs and Unique Article Wizard Review press releases. They serve distinctive purposes and so they may vary in size, substance and presentation. On top of all these, you must also have a set price according to your budget. It would be difficult on your part to overspend on professional writing services when there are other expenses that you need to consider.

Ask For Recommendations

For sure, other website owners have also sought help from related content writing services. By asking about their experiences with their chosen providers, you can get ideas on how to get connected with reliable ones. Keep in mind though that as you seek for the best article providers, you must not be drawn only to those with positive feedbacks on their website. Being able to read negative feedbacks can help you discern their limitations. This can give you an overview how real your prospect companies are and how you can make their strengths and weaknesses work to the advantage of your website needs.

Ask For Reductions

Maybe, you’ve already got your top 3 picks. Now may be the time to ask each of them whether you could be given discounts in exchange of bulk or regular orders. There are some service providers that offer negotiable costs to their clients. However , you must always be aware not to sacrifice quality for quantity. Sometimes website owners think they get what they paid for when they are given a handful of extra articles. While this is going to be a pleasant bonus, you should target the quality articles as they’d represent your business online.

The above-mentioned are just the major ways you can get professional writing services. Meanwhile, getting quality work from them – meaning having them work according to your expectations all the time – could be another thing to work on. This can be done with good rapport. Mistakes are inevitable no matter how proficient your hired writers could be. And so, mistakes must be discussed amicably while giving appropriate consideration to your video SEO service provider. Would this not be a great way to be assured of getting quality articles all year round?

Popular Online Contests

It is growing ever tougher and tougher to become noticed in the world of writing. With so much content flooding the book shelves (and now digital shelves), finding a publisher is rather difficult, and many agents won’t even consider you if you haven’t been published yet. This is why submitting your work to an online writing contest is such a viable option.

Plus, you also have the ability to always believe your story is better, based on reading the winners who wrote regarding the same topic. How Did it Come to This? In this writing competition, you create a story, but not from the beginning. In this story you start midway through the events, and although there doesn’t need to necessarily be an ending, you have the ability to craft something completely unique, even if you yourself don’t know how the individual got in their current situation.

Of course, you always have the option of writing a full story, then remove the beginning and tweak it a bit so it is a bit of a mystery to everyone else, except you as the writer. The story of the month competition is one of the most frequent competitions. For this competition, which starts anew every single month (for more information on the specific competition check out Fanstory.com), a vote from the readers is cast for the best entry of the given month.

With it comes to Mad Men, the writing competition is to think about the show, and write up a story in under 1000 words as to what the characters, the show or other aspects of it would be like if it took place during the 1980′s, 1990s or currently. What would change about it. How would the characters be different, would they still be sitting in their offices drinking scotch while the rest of the works is performed outside the office? This is up to you to decide and conjure up.

Lets solve a murder with your writing skills. This is a competition where everyone starts at the same level. Some people have spent years polishing up their stories, waiting for a specific competition, and if they have already been reviewed by professionals it is rather difficult to best them. Are you hoping to put out a book that compares to the works of James Patterson and Stephen King? This is the place to do it.

Writing Articles – Priming Your Water pump

Starting a new article over completely from scratch is for me often a really unpleasant task. I have found of which editing existing work is Often less stressful compared to staring at an empty screen. Consider even the almost all fragmented copy as separate buckets of water that will help you “prime your pump”. Perhaps the suffering you feel while staring at which first blank page (your personal machine screen) only grows even worse with greater success from writing articles! It doesn’t get much easier over time. A well unfortunately is as deep as you exercise it; most of us grow a unconscious fear of it going dry long before our needs are satisfied. Thankfully even though, I have trained myself to slide into a productive “zone” quickly along with oftentimes on demand. You will, with more experience, and, with the aid of some tactics described here, also achieve the same skill.

Since your objective is to write an article associated with say 500 to 2500 words, use simple web themes and writing patterns which can be familiar to you. Use behaviour that resonate inside you since their logical structure follows your own personal thought processes. Your “interrogatives”, the Whom, What, Why, When, and also Where, will help you pull innovative flows from the deepest portion of your inner self. Whenever possible, use a word processor to generate your words; its copy, insert and reformat features will allow you to go, revise, and sculpt what you are saying in ways no typewriter or note pad can duplicate. Touch keying is also useful skill here so that you can smoothly move ideas in your mind to words using a monitor screen. The more liquid the delivery of consideration to page, the less likely you might pause and slip into the more systematic Editor mode.

A word processor and your computer screen help to how it looks brainstorm themes and ideas that relate to your chosen concept. Create the general topic or primary theme you want to discuss presents itself the page. Avoid buying a title during this pump-priming, creative step is done. Focus your thoughts solely on the stream of water gushing from the rusty iron spigot. When you begin recording these ideas, listing your thoughts in simple declarative sentences or even sentence fragments in separate lines. Instead of modifying what you have written, hit this ENTER button, and create a second line that explains or amplifies your preceding thought. Do NOT change your sentences or sentence fragments now in the creative process. Enable spell check handle your own typos; turn off the syntax checker when necessary.

Because similar feelings come together, use the cut and also paste feature in your expression processor to rearrange, collection and organize individual lines of text into groupings separated empty space. Work with as much of this space as you can to visually separate your “thought clusters”. Consider this technique yet another type of visually brainstorming your notions.

While you are more experienced with this technique, identify topic sentences and place them in a logic order like intro, body, and bottom line, or in your template framework. Consider the traditional creative publishing technique of conceptually shaping them into a upside down triangle. You existing your broad topic, methods and generalities on “top” of your bit. You then progressively narrow ones theme with specific concepts and facts until you at some point come to a conceptual point; your current conclusion! You have a limited length of time and space to build some sort of framework within which to hang your ideas and lead people to your point of view. Trust in a realistic sense of familiarity to result in your personal Muse. Your reader WILL pick up you.

Steer clear of editing almost any text during the “pumping” or innovative phase. It is best to periodically keep your work area for a short rest WHILE still inside your creative mode. Just populate as many buckets as you can. Make it possible for sentences “grow” new ideas via rearrangement on the page. We are watering our ideas here instead of pruning the growth. Don’t be surprised or maybe concerned when your gushing stream water narrows to a trickle and lastly stops. This is a natural change point from your creative cycle to your editing phase. Describe your image as best you’ll be able to before you switch to a more critical, evaluative phase. Priming the pump can be a fundamental writing technique.

Examples Are Worth Their Weight in Gold

Bloggers will tell you content is king on the Web. But even when you’re not writing anything to be put out online, content is still the most vital thing you must pay attention to. The majority of essay writing support experts agree that the worst thing you might do to your essay is not to butcher it with syntax and grammar mistakes that your message gets muddled up. It’s not having any real content to give your readers at all.

The Power of Examples

The single, most efficient technique that will change your essay from a unconvincing, lightweight, beginner’s piece to an interesting and serious read is the usage of examples, concrete and explicit cases that highlight the truthfulness of a general and abstract significant point. Examples are much , much longer than the typically one-sentence thesis statement, but they’re more fascinating to read because they will be able to create a picture in your readers ‘ minds of what you need to point out.

Let me drive home the point with an example. Let’s say you are writing an essay about teaching systems in a high school literature class. This is a general idea that the great majority of people are unable to simply grasp. The thesis statement, “Involving the scholars in proactive experiences allows for better learning in literature,” is understandable enough, but isn’t as definite as when you use a clear and detailed example to explain your essay’s discussion further.

What, then, is a fine example to support your essay’s significant point? For starters, you can describe at least one hands-on activity that teachers can hold in class, and then explain why it makes learning less complicated for students. William Shakespeare’s classic “Romeo and Juliet” is one hard-to-understand text that most highschools need in their literature classes.

One useful strategy teachers can employ is to have the scholars act out their fave scenes from the play for them to better appreciate the tragic romance that have befallen Shakespeare’s two main characters. Perhaps the use of modern, everyday English to replace the Old English that was employed in the play can also make it easier for students to grasp it.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to compose essays. You’ll find many useful tips and information on how to write an essay by going to Go2Essay.com. They have many different ideas in which you can select
from. Or, if you are too occupied you can purchase an essay too.

Little Known Facts about Keyword Strategies

One of the most intimidating and possibly confusing aspects of online marketing is SEO, or search engine optimization. That has been true ever since the phrase and practice were invented many years ago. But a lot of that is due to misinformation, outdated information, and people simply spreading bad information. It is true that Google really does not look kindly on SEO, and they have said it; they do not want people engaging in SEO practices. Nevertheless, you can make your own efforts pay-off a bit better when you use as many tools as you can.|The area concerning links encompasses a fair amount of information. Then there are sub-areas within the overall that you really should become familiar with if not learn really well. But for today we will be talking about the links on your own site, and it does not matter if that is a static site or a blog. Aside from always wanting to have solid on site navigation, which includes links, you need to do more if you are going for SEO and ranking. So here are three very good techniques and approaches to learn and put to use on all your sites.|Even though local search has been pretty hot for a few years, it is still relatively young and nowhere even close to being saturated. Not exactly sure why that is, but it could be because it just takes a while for people and businesses to embrace change, etc.

That is fine, though, because it represents a lot of opportunities for a lot of people. Even if you think it is something that will not benefit you, you should still do it because the rest of the world will catch up to it. You always want to position yourself with this kind of development because it is still unfolding and the whole story has not yet been written.|If there was ever one aspect of online marketing that so many people get hung up on it must be keyword research. Granted, it is important and useful in many ways, so it is an understandable obsession. What you should do though, if you want better results, is learn how to apply the right kind of leverage to your research and use of keywords. There really are some things that are never, if only very rarely, discussed in forums or seen in ebooks. Almost all people do the exact same things with their keywords, and you should learn how to do the things that others do not.|It pays to get to know people who do various kinds of online marketing. The reason for that is you will sometimes learn new things, such as keyword strategies, that are unique and powerful – and not taught to the general public. Or simply take the time and check out other sources for data regarding this issue. Even if you have never given this any thought, you may want to consider it now. We will be offering a few tactics that may be of use to you in your hunt for ways to locate and use keywords.

If you follow what everybody always teaches about on page optimization, then your pages will be optimized just like the billions of other pages. The entire and complete web page matters in terms of keyword phrase frequency, etc, and not just the standard places. This is just a point that all of the words on any given page will be analyzed. But you do not want to limit yourself to only your primary page phrase, and this can bring in more traffic as well. So what you will end up with is a primary or main page and then your additional phrases related to that.|Any site you have can benefit from the proper assignment of anchor text for your links. Any page you link to on your site will be optimized for a keyword phrase, and those phrases comprise anchor text. Your site visitors will also use these as important traffic signs or navigation aids. Think of this as something that is win-win because it’s helpful to your readers so both of you win. If you are fairly new with SEO, then you should learn all about how to make your link and navigation internal structure more SEO friendly.|Once your Google Places listing is active, market it aggressively and comprehensively–you want as much exposure and as many links as it is possible to get. It’s true–it is important to get as many mentions and citations as you can. These act as ‘social proof’ for Google in terms of how popular you are. It’s helpful to think of this as a sort of direct backlink in terms of SEO value for your Google Places because it definitely has an effect on your rankings.

So what you really want is to be as active as possible and figure out how to get your site cited as much as it can. Directory listings work great for this as does having other people (lots of people) review your website. But directories are a very common way to accomplish this for most people simply because they are easier.|Good keyword research techniques are absolutely necessary. That’s something that Internet marketers learn fast. Mostly though, you want to tap into the right words to attract Internet surfers with a specific ‘intent’. You need to understand that some people use the Internet to do their due diligence and get more information about the products they’re interested in buying. They’re really just researching and not even committed to buying yet. They have to spend a proper amount of time examining their options before they’ll be ready to buy. Don’t waste your time research keywords that will have people endlessly ‘kicking tires’ on your site when you can go for the gold mine keywords for people who are ready to buy.|Given the large number of keywords and phrases that exist, even given an entire lifetime you would not see the majority of them. The bulk of them are seldom used; leaving the traditional ones to usually do the job. When the source you use to search for keywords and phrases is through the use of software, you just need to keep in mind that what you will find there is simply a small fraction of what is actually available. You will have a good experience if you can take it upon yourself to make your point through keywords and phrases, as well as being sure to show a similarity between them and your product. You will be amazed at the results when you take something and see how many ways you can think of to portray it. Using this methodology makes for a prosperous endeavor for internet marketers. IM marketers all know about the alt tag for on page SEO, but more can be done with those pictures. Probably 99% of IM marketers never go beyond the alt tag for on page factor. The thing you have to do with anything in IM is to keep learning because that is how you expand your knowledge base. Right click on an image and check out the properties, and you can see that there are optimizing opportunities, there. Take the time to do this for all your images and it will definitely be worth it.|

You can help keep visitors on your sites by placing links with good anchor text in your actual content and pointing to relevant content. In-line links are some of the best you can have pointing to your site, and they work well with the approach, too. Unless you have a very large site, you should make all your posts contain these related links. Think about using both in-line links and links that are external to the content but not in the sidebar, either. You need to use all the edge and tactics you can to help your visitors and SEO efforts, and these are two methods for that. Remember to monitor your site traffic logs and time spent on site per visitor.|

Once you’ve finished your Google Place Page, you’re going to need to be sure all of your details are taken care of. And even though this is just mostly about administrative stuff, it’s still a super important step to take care of. It’s important to keep up with your updates so that all of the information about your business is current.

It’s important to update the information on your Places Page whenever any of your details (like your phone number) change. Not filling out the page could negatively impact you in terms of a variety of ranking factors. The algorithm Google uses for its search engine factors this in and is unique for it.|

This way you don’t waste your time, and the time of your audience, by trying to sell them something they’re not ready to buy. There are many times when people are simply gathering information and statistics and not at all interested in buying – yet. They want the details about the product and not a high pressure sale. When a person simply isn’t interested in buying, there isn’t a sales letter around that will talk them into it. The details are what they’re after for the time being. Buying decisions come at a later stage in the process. You need ‘ready to buy’ keywords if you’re after an audience that has their wallet in hand and is ready to go.|You may want to take an extra measure of caution when you are deciding on which keywords and/or key phrases; especially when you are the one that is responsible for your content. Be mindful of what your potential customers are viewing; in other words keep things rolling along with an interesting tone. Just be careful of the way you use your keywords and try to keep them put in suitable locations. There are those who depend on their success by following in the footsteps of experienced writers who use specific formats when writing. You may feel like you need to do your individual thing, which is great; however, you need to take what your readers will enjoy into account.

The one link on any site that almost never gets optimized is the Home link for the home page. If you are totally new, then check out a site and notice that HOME page link is always over on the left, at the top. Your overall theme and home page are centered around one major keyword phrase, and that is what you need to put in place of ‘home.’ We are not talking about the primary phrase for any other page other than the home page. Try to avoid making it obscure so your visitors do not become confused about where the home page is.|Think about how you can improve your on-site linking regardless of having a blog or not. So just remember that the same principles apply to non-blog sites as they do to blogs for this. But most people will not go as far as they can with this such as placing links outside of content in the main page area. As with anything else in marketing, too much is not good so use some good judgment about it. This is part of your on-site SEO education, and of course there is more you can learn.|Customer reviews are important and not just in terms of the high rankings that Google Places gives to your business. You can probably see without us having to tell you that there are a lot of people who want to game the system with a lot of fake reviews. There are definite risks involved here and while it is ultimately up to you, we do not actively encourage it. A good way around this is to ask your satisfied customers to put up reviews of your business on your Places listing.

As with those who game the system, there are some who are offering rewards for the people who actually do this. You could also choose to look at this as incentive for people to submit reviews. If an affiliate tried to do this that affiliate would be punished.|Ever heard of Amazon marketing? It’s showing no signs of slowing down. Have you noticed how digital products seem to be on the decline lately? As a result of this decline, many Internet marketers are beginning to transition to something along the lines of the Amazon marketing opportunity. If this is something you’re considering it’s important to master the fine art of the ‘buy now’ keyword. Of course you’ll never fully escape the people who are just shopping around but mastering these nifty keywords will help make your ventures more profitable.|Some online marketers are on the radical side and can get a little bigheaded when it comes to stuff like content search criteria. You just need to remember to be mindful of keeping your content lighthearted and interesting. To produce satisfactory content, you would be wise to set up and use a plan of action. You might try taking the keyword phrase from every part of your content and then make a list to follow. It shouldn’t be difficult to match these terms to primary phrases that are associated. Now you have the ability to use these in any content writing you may produce down the road. What you really need to do is find out who can be trusted to learn SEO from, and then you go about the process of learning. If you are really very new, then go to a marketing forum and start reading or asking questions, or both. Be sure you check the dates on any web content you read, and be careful if there isn’t a date on it.|

One of the easiest things to do for your site is make your internal linking stronger. Anytime you roll-out something new like this on your site, make sure you know what people are doing and where they are going. This is not a magic pill, and your results may be nothing if your content is bad. So remember this is just one important aspect of links, and of course there are several others, too.|

There is so much that can be done to raise your local business within the rankings of the search engines. When you’re new (and you most likely are) you need to learn about this on your own. Why would you pay someone else to do it for you when you can do all of it on your own and pretty simply too?|

The keywords you want to target, at the end of the day, are t he keywords that are most likely to result in the sell you’re trying to make. Target keyword phrases that include the word ‘buy’ as part of your efforts to attract a buying audience. As you learn more about selecting the right keywords you’re sales and figures will rise.|You would be well advised to apply these methods when you are attempting your online business and marketing ventures. Now that you have established these tools, you may begin applying them to your own internet use. The notion of applying keywords from your efforts will be appreciated when you do pay per click advertising.

Quality vs Quantity And Website Content – Which Is More Important.

The internet community has been asking the question about website content for years now, what question is that you ask, the question of quality vs quantity – which is better. Search engines such as Google and Bing have given the internet marketing community hints to answer this question. Apparently the amount of information out there on the internet is doubling in size every 74 hours or so. So if that is true I guess we could say that quantity has got to be the winner. What do people do however when they are trying to find some information relevant to them in all this. It could be compared to trying to find a needle in a hay stack that keeps doubling in size every few days. Not an easy task.

It is getting increasingly easy to produce content in quantity. You can now get plugins, especially if you are using WordPress, that will give you content automatically. It may be that this is great from a production point of view but the content created is not attractive and really does not create something that is beneficial to human visitors. You can attract people to your website using this method but you will probably not keep them there for long and it is doubtful they will return again.

Another way that quantity is being used in internet marketing strategies at the moment, actually this strategy has been used by some internet marketers for years, is to produce a ton of thin sites (low in content and therefore value). These sites are setup around certain keywords and the content for them is provided by content aggregation software that searches for content based on the specified keywords. The content aggregators can even be setup to drip feed the content to the site and be left to run on autopilot for months, even years without further intervention from the site owner. However the same problem as mentioned in the previous paragraph soon becomes an issue. While the content maybe relevant to the keywords and what people are searching for it is not provided in a way that is useful to visitors and will in fact just have them clicking away to get more easily digested information elsewhere.

The key thing is to provide content that is valuable to your visitors and is going to keep them engaged for sometime and possibly have them coming back again. Quality content that will achieve this does not come cheap or easy. It is important to work hard creating content at the start to get the benefits later and ongoing. I think the best attitude to take when creating content is to put yourself in your visitors shoes and realise that if you don’t find information that is going to meet your needs you are going to be disappointed.

The way value is measured depends on the niche your are targeting. If you are wanting to provide reviews to help consumers make an informed decision about a purchase they are contemplating then you are best to provide that. Not some links away from your site to simply try and get them to buy, they are already interested in buying, what they are after is information to help them in their decision making process. If your visitors are after training to help them take care of their tropical fish, and specifically Siamese fighting fish, you want to provide valuable, quality information that will teach them just that. These are just a couple of examples but you get the idea. Providing good quality information does take time and effort but the reward is going to be good quality customers in the short and the long term.

So that brings us to the final point in this article and that is quality content is more likely to create viral traffic than content that is not. Viral traffic is most likely to occur when there is something on your site that people find beneficial and when they find it beneficial they are more likely, almost certainly, to share that information, that content, with others. The networks out there like Twitter and FaceBook now enable people to share their information, tips, and discoveries faster than ever before. Buttons are on your website for a reason and that reason is not to make your site look pretty and that reason is to be click on by your visitors when they find quallity worth sharing… so make it so.

When you start out writing content for your website you want to do it right. Learn More About Content Creation and make sure you do it right from the get-go.

—Joan Bolker, author of Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a Day

“Humorous, direct, authentic … a seamless weave of experience, anecdote, and research.”
—Kathleen McHugh, professor and director of the UCLA Center for the Study of Women

“A useful text that will be an excellent resource for any writer attempting to publish their work.”
—Larry Chandler, Graduate Student

“Wendy Belcher's book is revolutionizing the way younger scholars perceive academic publishing and radically transforming their level of access to it (and consequently to the profession). It is by far the most readable or practical guide to academic writing on the market.”
—Beth Goodhue, UCLA

“Wendy's guidance has been a tremendous help to me, and the book is great for grad students, junior faculty, or anyone who wants to learn how to write and publish more effectively.”
-Jake Dorman, The University of Kansas

“Your book struck such a nerve because there is a long chain of assumptions in academia that scholars should just know how to do certain things. The relief among faculty is palpable when I explain in groups that few of us -- even those who have been published in journals -- were ever taught properly. And although it helps everyone who cracks it, your book is especially a godsend for faculty from other cultures.” -Carole Sargent, Georgetown University

“Thanks for your wonderful book!”
-Georgina Green, Graduate Student

“Absolutely LOVE the book!”
-Karra Bikson, Graduate Student
